The common side effects of Coldrex tablet are:

Precautions 

Coldrex Tablet in Adults: 2 Tablets every 4 to 6 hours, the maximum dose is 8 tablets in a day

Coldrex Tablet in Children (6 to 12 Years): 1 to 1.5 Tablets every 4 to 6 hours, the maximum dose is 4 tablets in a day

Coldrex Syrup in Children (6 to 12 Years): 0.5 to 1 teaspoon every 4 to 6 hours, the maximum dose is 9 teaspoons a day

Coldrex Syrup in Children (2 to 6 Years): 1 teaspoon every 4 to 6 hours, the maximum dose is 4 teaspoons a day


FAQs

How does this medicine work?

Chlorpheniramine has an anti-inflammatory action on the cells. It reduces the uptake of chemical messengers that cause inflammation by the cells and thereby reduces and relieves the patient.

When not to use this medicine?

Hypersensitivity to chlorpheniramine maleate or any component of the formulation, narrow-angle glaucoma (high pressure in the eye), bladder neck obstruction, symptomatic prostate hypertrophy, and during acute asthmatic attacks

Will this medicine make me sleepy?

Yes, this medicine makes the user sleepy. Avoid driving or any other work that requires your attention if you’re using this medicine.

Is this medicine safe for children?

This medicine is not licensed for children under 1 year of age.

What are its side effects?

The patients administered with this medicine may experience drowsiness, dizziness, headaches, dry mouth, attention disturbances, fatigue, and blurred vision. 

How many days will this medicine take to treat my allergy?

You might need to take it for a couple of days to relieve a specific allergic reaction or itching, or for longer periods to control hay fever symptoms.

How does this medicine work?

This medicine works by blocking (neurotransmitters) chemical messengers in the brain that inform us that we have pain. It also reduces fever by affecting the neurotransmitters in the area of the brain that manages or regulates body temperature. 

Can I take this medicine for a long time?

It is not recommended to take this medicine for more than 3 days unless advised by your doctor otherwise. 

What happens if you take this medicine for a long time?

Studies have shown that long term use of medicine is associated with a risk of adverse events such as heart attacks, bleeding inside the digestive system and hinders kidney function. 

What are the signs of overdose of this medicine?

Having difficulty breathing and passing out are some signs of an overdose of this medicine.

What to do if you miss a dose of this medicine?

Please take your dosage as per the prescription. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If the time for the next dose is close, take medicine normally. Do not double the dose.

What are its indications?

This medication is used for treating symptoms of allergic rhinitis, and nasal and sinus congestion. It can also be used to decongest tubes that drain fluid from your ears, called the Eustachian Tubes.

How to store this medicine?

Please store this medicine at room temperature (18-25 Celsius). Keep medicine away from excessive light, moisture, and children. Please do not flush medicines down the toilet. Please read the leaflet provided with the medicine for further storage guidance.

What are its side effects?

You may experience difficulty sleeping, hallucinations, and urinary retention. 

What are its precautions?

Vision changes, patients using anti-fungal medicines, and patients with high blood pressure, diabetes, renal (kidney) and hepatic (liver) impairment. 

What are its effects on pregnancy and lactation?

Please consult your healthcare provider regarding use of this medicine during pregnancy. There is no evidence if this medicine passes into breast milk. Consult your health care provider before use of this medicine.

How to administer this medicine?

This medicine is mostly used orally (through mouth). The dose is dependent on the age, condition and its severity. Consult your doctor before use. This medicine is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.

Patients with severe hepatic (liver) and heart impairments, hyperthyroidism, and severe hypertension (high blood pressure).
